Altered States - new 21 track compilation available now Altered States kicks off with an experimental skit from LA’s David Alvarado (Ovum/Peacefrog), and his otherworldly passages appear throughout this double unmixed CD. Some older gems are unearthed on this comp, including the early 2020 Vision remix of Akabu’s “Your Wildest Dreams”, a punchy, robotic club cut that sounds just as relevant today as it did on its first release in 2000. Other UK based producers crop up on Disc One, including Paul Woolford’s reflective slice of deep electronica “Sealed In Amber”, Solid Groove’s trademark jackin remix of “Feel Alright”, Jamie Anderson’s crunchy Drexciya homage “Deep Illusion” and the devastating and downright dirty Radio Slave remix of Peace Division’s “Blacklight Sleaze”. Other highlights on this first disc include the dubby and chord drenched Dano remix of Mood II Swing and the spongy minimalism of Dub Duo (Claudio Coccoluto from Italy). Disc Two features the DC10 vibes of “Poke” by Peace Division, the Carl Craig-esque Audio Soul Project remix of Nick & Danny Chatelain, the Italo inspired Chicken Lips acid mix of Nick Holder, two dubby gems from San Fran’s Dano, the clattering tech-soul of Ian Pooley’s “In The Bins”, the intricate and pulsating beats, swirling keys and lo-fi ambience of Radio Slave’s recent remix of “Time Is Now” and the Octave One remix of Joey Negro’s Akabu project.

Peace Division remix Audio Soul Project's "Community"... Originally released in 2000, Audio Soul Project’s “Community” featured an unforgettable vocal and lyric from Ron Carroll. Often sampled over the last seven years, but never bettered, NRK line up some brand new official remixes of a track with just as much, if not more, lyrical relevance in 2007 than it did in 2000. Peace Division lay down a remix par excellence, take a proper listen to this fab slice of textured and layered house. A fantastic swinging production, minimal yes, but intricate and effective sounds backdropping the laidback vocal delivery; an early morning head-nodder of a remix. Giving us an edgier spin on “Community” is the Audio Soul Project Redux, a groovesome techy affair with some haunting stabs and eerily cool chords.
