Miguel Migs new album & new singles - exclusively at nrkmusic.com
A long awaited flurry of activity this month from our favourite San Francisco DJ/Producer, Miguel Migs. Unveiling his long awaited artist album, released this month on Salted Records via NRK titled ‘Those Things’, Miguel also has a new single out, "Mesmerized", which comes out on two discs with fantastic remixes from Shur-i-Kan and Alix Alvarez.

Having culled together a world class team of featured artists, ‘Those Things’ includes collaborations from regular cohorts including the fantastic Lisa Shaw (Naked/Petalpusher/Aquanote) who is featured on the deliciously soulful cuts ‘Things Happen’, ‘Side To Side’, and the fabulously funky album title track ‘Those Things’. Another favourite stepping up to the mic is LT (aka Aya), who you may recognise by her unique smooth voice from previous hits with Blue 6 'Sweeter Love' and 'Love Yourself' among others. LT delivers beautiful dreamy vocals on 'So Far', the first single from the album with Rasmus Faber mixes for Salted (US only), ‘Get Down’ and ‘Giving It All’. LT also appears on the exclusive European single for NRK titled ‘Mesmerized’, a stunning deep outing that features mixes from Shur-i-kan and Alix Alvarez. The album also features hip hop & roots heavyweights Sadat X (Brand Nubian) who performs on the hip-house flavoured cut ‘Shake It Up’ alongside Lisa Shaw; and the legendary Junior Reid on the rootstastic ‘Fire’. Joining the party for a slice of funked up boogie, Fred Ross, who has worked with greats such as Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, and The Family Stone, makes an exciting addition to the project with his silky smooth sounds on ‘Let Me Be’ and Tim Fuller on ‘Can’t Get Through’, ‘Sometime’, and ‘Body Never Lies’.

The two 12"s are available now, featuring cracking remixes from the UKs Shur-i-kan and NYC's SOLE Channel mainman, Alix Alvarez. We are also taking pre-orders for the CD of "Those Things", so be first in line to get a copy at our discounted rate of £8.99. The "Mesmerized" remixes are also available digitally at Traxsource, Beatport, Dancetracks, XPressbeats, Stompy and many other reputable sites

Ron Trent's COAST2COAST available now
Delving deep into the Chicago underground, COAST2COAST follows up exemplary mix CDs from NY’s Quentin Harris and Kerri Chandler with this well crafted selection from one of the scene’s forerunners, Ron Trent. Quite simply a mix CD that will brighten your day, it’s chock full of signature Trent sounds, from the lush pads and sweeping pianos of Ron’s own “Love To The World”, to the deep emotive house of Playin 4 The City and the soulful vocal cuts such as the awesome Blaze rework of “What Makes The World Go Round” and the intoxicating sounds of Roland Clarke’s “Sunshine”. Reminiscent of Trent’s legendary sets at Miami’s Giant Step parties (and beyond), the rays shine out of every musical pore. Older jams are collected here from Outphaze (an 1988 Italian production that clearly influenced the Ron Trent & Chez Damier sound) and Cassio Ware’s “Baby Love” whilst Ron’s current stable of musicians and producers are represented by Lamaj’s sprawling “Brotherhood…” and Conjure’s deep electronic tones.

Ron Trent's COAST2COAST comes out on double CD and 2 X double unmixed vinyl packs on 26th March. We have CD copies available now, upfront and exclusive, at the NRK webshop. Click the link below for more details.

Âme confirm COAST2COAST May release
We are extremely excited to announce that Âme are lined up for the next Coast2Coast compilation release. Due out in May, Âme, AKA Frank Wiedemann & Kristian Beyer, have been at the very forefront of the house scene for the last 18 months, with a production career that dates back to 2003.

There genre-breaking "Rej" track from 2005 was perhaps one of the biggest underground records that year, and was subsequently licensed to Defected from Sonar Kollectiv, the German label that the guys began honing their sound for. Kristian and Frank first met up through Kristian's recordshop "Plattentasche" in Karlsruhe , Germany. Frank, already experienced with his former project Soul FC (release on FSOJ), and Kristian, being a scientific music nerd in a positive way, one day decided to tweak the knobs together.  Kristian has always been turned on by the voices shouting out of motor city, by the likes of Moodyman, Underground Resistance and Carl Craig as well as the New York City Sound of Blaze and Metro Area, whereas Frank’s broad spectrum of influences ranges from Chateau Flight, John Tejada over to IG Culture and Jazzanova. Brilliant remixes for the likes of Roy Ayers, Rodamaal, Akabu and Ferrer & Sydenham have put Ame on the production map, and the duo have been tearing up nightclubs with their no-nonsense, intelligent house sounds all over the World of late.

Âme's Coast2Coast comes out on May 7th on double CD (CD1 mixed & CD2 unmixed tracks), and two double unmixed vinyl LPs. more info, tracklistings etc. very shortly.

Joey Negro launches Back In The Box next month
BACK IN THE BOX is a brand new series from NRK, launching in April. Taking the World’s leading and longest serving DJ legends, B.I.T.B. invites them to plunder deep into their collections to those old house records that rocked the party time and time again, records that have since been left dormant on the shelves, waiting for the right moment to be dusted off (and this is that moment!). We’re talking about those records that shaped and influenced a whole music scene, from that golden era of house music from the late 80s-mid 90s. A mix that will evoke great memories of lost nights on the dancefloor, B.I.T.B is the trip back in time you’ve been waiting for.

UK house pioneer Joey Negro (AKA Dave Lee, Jakatta, Doug Willis, Sunburst Band, Akabu) steps up to the platters to mix the first in this new series. Joey Negro began producing in 1988 and also founded the influential Republic Records (home to Blaze, Turntable Orchestra, Kym Mazelle & more), producing and releasing a string of acid house tracks, the first wave of garage house records and disco sampling club hits. Setting up Z Records after the demise of Republic, Joey Negro became a much sought after producer, working with the likes of Take That (“Relight My Fire”), Crystal Waters (“Gypsy Woman”) and recently Robbie Williams. Negro also found considerable success with the Jakatta project, spawning a Top 5 single in “American Dream”.

And so it is no surprise that a DJ with so much heritage has excelled himself with the selection on the very first BITB compilation. We're keeping the full tracklist under wraps for a couple of weeks, although the audio links below give you a good idea as the the flavours on offer on this fantastic mix. An upfront 12” sampler, featuring two tracks included on the compilation, gets released prior to the album. Joey Negro creates two exclusive re-edits for us; Neal Howard’s 1988 classic “The Gathering” was one of those genre crossing records, that captured the ears of both the Balearic DJs and the techno jocks. Sounding as if Derrick May had collaborated with Italian Don Carlos, uplifting piano chords and filtered 909 drums created a classic that just won’t go away. On the flip, Bam Bam’s frenzied acid house track from 1988 also get’s revived by Mr. Negro on the comp. The original Chicago acid sound in all its glory, another classic gets dusted off to go Back In The Box.
