There genre-breaking "Rej" track from 2005 was perhaps one of the biggest underground records that year, and was subsequently licensed to Defected from Sonar Kollectiv, the German label that the guys began honing their sound for. Kristian and Frank first met up through Kristian's recordshop "Plattentasche" in Karlsruhe , Germany. Frank, already experienced with his former project Soul FC (release on FSOJ), and Kristian, being a scientific music nerd in a positive way, one day decided to tweak the knobs together. Kristian has always been turned on by the voices shouting out of motor city, by the likes of Moodyman, Underground Resistance and Carl Craig as well as the New York City Sound of Blaze and Metro Area, whereas Frank’s broad spectrum of influences ranges from Chateau Flight, John Tejada over to IG Culture and Jazzanova. Brilliant remixes for the likes of Roy Ayers, Rodamaal, Akabu and Ferrer & Sydenham have put Ame on the production map, and the duo have been tearing up nightclubs with their no-nonsense, intelligent house sounds all over the World of late. Âme's Coast2Coast comes out on May 7th on double CD (CD1 mixed & CD2 unmixed tracks), and two double unmixed vinyl LPs. more info, tracklistings etc. very shortly.

UK house pioneer Joey Negro (AKA Dave Lee, Jakatta, Doug Willis, Sunburst Band, Akabu) steps up to the platters to mix the first in this new series. Joey Negro began producing in 1988 and also founded the influential Republic Records (home to Blaze, Turntable Orchestra, Kym Mazelle & more), producing and releasing a string of acid house tracks, the first wave of garage house records and disco sampling club hits. Setting up Z Records after the demise of Republic, Joey Negro became a much sought after producer, working with the likes of Take That (“Relight My Fire”), Crystal Waters (“Gypsy Woman”) and recently Robbie Williams. Negro also found considerable success with the Jakatta project, spawning a Top 5 single in “American Dream”. And so it is no surprise that a DJ with so much heritage has excelled himself with the selection on the very first BITB compilation. We're keeping the full tracklist under wraps for a couple of weeks, although the audio links below give you a good idea as the the flavours on offer on this fantastic mix. An upfront 12” sampler, featuring two tracks included on the compilation, gets released prior to the album. Joey Negro creates two exclusive re-edits for us; Neal Howard’s 1988 classic “The Gathering” was one of those genre crossing records, that captured the ears of both the Balearic DJs and the techno jocks. Sounding as if Derrick May had collaborated with Italian Don Carlos, uplifting piano chords and filtered 909 drums created a classic that just won’t go away. On the flip, Bam Bam’s frenzied acid house track from 1988 also get’s revived by Mr. Negro on the comp. The original Chicago acid sound in all its glory, another classic gets dusted off to go Back In The Box.

Faith/Strobelight Honey is the brainchild of London house stalwarts Terry Farley, Bill Brewster, Roual Galloway, Jimmy P, Leo Elstob, Dave Jarvis and Stuart Patterson. Together the crew are responsible for the Faith parties. Having know each other through various vague and possibly illegal connections (the charges were eventually thrown out of court), they came together to A unique concept of club nights and a quarterly fanzine, Faith epitomizes everything that makes the underground music scene so special. The fanzine fuses articles on those who helped shape the music (Levan, Knuckels, Hardy etc.) and those who carry it forward together with humorous cartoons, lists , charts and photo galleries.
