When hes not showing off his extensive trainer collection, or informing anyone who will listen about being a gay Puerto Rican trapped in a white mans body, youre most likely to find Terry Farley in a dj booth. Or on the dancefloor at Space, pulling faces while Danny Tenaglia drops Elements. Or organising bank holiday beanos called Faith. Or scrawling opinionated scandal in the same-name fanzine he runs with Last Night A DJ Saved My Life author Bill Brewster and Soulsonics Leo Elstob. Forget 88 and all that: Terry Farley is no dewy eyed nostalgic, despite the fact that he and his Boys Own gang practically invented London club culture with their parties, fanzine label and fuck-off attitude.
Hes just a house freak. A dyed-in-the-wool lover of basslines that could blow the stripes off your sneakers, deep, tribal grooves and good, old fashioned bass-bathing, head-twisting club music. A career that started with the Boys Own parties, setting up the revered Junior Boys Own label, Djing and producing with long time associate Pete Heller, Terry has handed his production midas touch to a variety of acts including Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, New Order, Pet Shop Boys and Funky Green Dogs.
