Trackheadz feat. Zaki - "Feel" (Mr V/Original Mixes)
Nick Holder & Kaje’s underground house bomb “Feel” comes back round again with brand spanking new mixes from New York’s Mr V. This bumper double pack also features original mixes.

A multitude of mixes from Mr V on this double; a no-nonsense, heads down Main Mix with gorgeous Rhodes keys, shuffling beats and a melodious analogue bassline, a laid back and jazzy Dub Mix with teasing keys and delayed vocal effects and some useful Beats Mix and Keyapella Mix. Add to this the Original Vocal and Instrumental mixes from the Trackheadz and you have one tasty double pack on your hands. Originally out last year on a strictly limited promo, 'Feel' tickled the ears of DJs such as Aaron Ross, Kerri Chandler, Franck Roger, Joey Negro and many more.

Mr V is the young Nuyorican protégé of Masters At Work mainman Louie Vega, who spotted the DJ and producer’s talents and helped the young Mr V set up the now revered Sole Channel label with partner Alix Alvarez, and record for a multitude of labels including Vega Records, Defected , King Street, Large Music and many more. 2007 is set to be a big year for Mr. V following the Defected released album “Welcome Home” & the lead single “Da Bump”.

Kerri Chandler "The Promise" (Fish Go Deep Mixes)
NYC house daddy, Kerri Chandler, delivered a passionate and intoxicating vocal house moment late last year in “The Promise”.  Featuring Kerri himself on vocals, this ultra deep NY/Chicago hybrid track was always going to be open for remixes to take it to the dancefloors in a bigger way…..Step forward Fish Go Deep, the production duo from the deepest South (of Eire that is, Cork to be exact), who deliver two absolutely first class mixes firmly aimed at the floor.

Greg Dowling & Shane Johnson are Fish Go Deep, and have been involved with the deep house scene since time, passionately, and without media attention, promoting house music in Ireland and being responsible for enticing a who’s who of house DJs to their club Sir henrys (which sadly shut down a couple of years back).  2006 saw their dedication pay off, with the release of “The Cure & The Cause” on Defected, and hit the national Top 40 thanks is part to its Dennis Ferrer remix.

Fish Go Deep get to show their own remix capabilities on “The Promise”, heading straight for the crunchy drums approach with emotive chords and uplifting keys, and really bringing out the very best in Kerri’s melancholic vocal delivery.  “The Promise” is now ready for ears of all persuasions, hopefully to eclipse the success of Kerri’s “Bar A Thym” and FGD’s own “The Cure…”. Check the Dub Mix out as well for a quality house jam, evoking shades of early Roger S and Mood II Swing to these ears.

Miguel Migs long awaited album finally here!
The US West Coast king of electronic soul, Miguel Migs, unveils his long awaited artist album masterpiece for release on Salted Records via NRK, titled ‘Those Things’. A gem for old fans and new, this highly anticipated outing offers a superb collection of songs, genre hopping through Miguel’s signature contemporary soulful grooves, inspired by old soul, funk, reggae and hip hop, incorporating lots of live elements.

Having culled together a world class team of featured artists, ‘Those Things’ includes collaborations from regular cohorts including the fantastic Lisa Shaw (Naked/Petalpusher/Aquanote) who is featured on the deliciously soulful cuts ‘Things Happen’, ‘Side To Side’, and the fabulously funky album title track ‘Those Things’. Another favourite stepping up to the mic is LT (aka Aya), who you may recognise by her unique smooth voice from previous hits with Blue 6 'Sweeter Love' and 'Love Yourself' among others. LT delivers beautiful dreamy vocals on 'So Far', the first single from the album with Rasmus Faber mixes for Salted (US only), ‘Get Down’ and ‘Giving It All’. LT also appears on the exclusive European single for NRK titled ‘Mesmerized’, a stunning deep outing that will feature mixes from Shur-i-kan and Alix Alvarez’ forthcoming this spring. The album also features hip hop & roots heavyweights Sadat X (Brand Nubian) who performs on the hip-house flavoured cut ‘Shake It Up’ alongside Lisa Shaw; and the legendary Junior Reid on the rootstastic ‘Fire’. Joining the party for a slice of funked up boogie, Fred Ross, who has worked with greats such as Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, and The Family Stone, makes an exciting addition to the project with his silky smooth sounds on ‘Let Me Be’ and Tim Fuller on ‘Can’t Get Through’, ‘Sometime’, and ‘Body Never Lies’.

A single, "Mesmerized" will preceed the album in early March, spread over two discs with remixes from the UK's Shur-i-Kan and Sole Channel's Alix Alvarez, alongside Miguel's original album mix. "Those Things" gets released on 19th March.

Ron Trent COAST2COAST out next month
Delving deep into the Chicago underground, COAST2COAST follows up exemplary mix CDs from NY’s Quentin Harris and Kerri Chandler with this well crafted selection from one of the scene’s forerunners, Ron Trent. Quite simply a mix CD that will brighten your day, it’s chock full of signature Trent sounds, from the lush pads and sweeping pianos of Ron’s own “Love To The World”, to the deep emotive house of Playin 4 The City and the soulful vocal cuts such as the awesome Blaze rework of “What Makes The World Go Round” and the intoxicating sounds of Roland Clarke’s “Sunshine”. Reminiscent of Trent’s legendary sets at Miami’s Giant Step parties (and beyond), the rays shine out of every musical pore. Older jams are collected here from Outphaze (an 1988 Italian production that clearly influenced the Ron Trent & Chez Damier sound) and Cassio Ware’s “Baby Love” whilst Ron’s current stable of musicians and producers are represented by Lamaj’s sprawling “Brotherhood…” and Conjure’s deep electronic tones.

A perennial presence in music since the early 90's, Ron Trent pulls no punches! Considered to be one of the architects of the Chicago music scene, becoming a respected DJ in his early teens in the mid-eighties. Ron began to work on his own productions which lead to his first release, the highly recognized classic "Altered States" in 1990, giving him international acclaim. Through his 13 year old Prescription Records, Ron has notched up an extensive back catalogue of his own productions and introduced several key players. Prescription is widely regarded as one of the most influential Deep House imprints of the period. In the early 90's, Ron collaborated with House/R&B team Hula & Fingers, producers for Jive Records and production credits with Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Kool Mo D, High Five, Lidell Townsend and MTF. After several releases on Club Records, Hula & Fingers classic imprint, Ron went own to form his own label with renowned vocalist/producer Chez Damier.

In 1993, Ron and Chez began creating the template for what would become the signature Prescription sound, eventually finding it's way into various remix and writing production hits, and implementing the conception of Prescription Records. Prescription Records, together with it's sister label Balance, introduced the likes of Anthony Nicholson, Abacus, Glen Underground (CVO), Moody Man, Norma Jean Bell, Joshua, Peven Everett, Rob Mello, and Luke Solomon to the world. During its course, Pre scription became known for issueing superbly produced, often epic dance music by drawing influences from all over the globe and delighting club goers, as well as DJs with its highly unique sound.

Ron Trent's COAST2COAST comes out on double CD and 2 X double unmixed vinyl packs on 26th March. In the meantime, Ron Trent plays in London this Saturday for Need2Soul along with Alix Alvarez, Mr V, robert Owens, Rap Saunders & Ben Chapman. Need2Soul takes place at The Key in Kings Cross from 10pm-6am.
